Join Miles for Migraine for the virtual social event, Design a Tattoo. Get inspired, learn some tattoo tips, draw a design, and share your creation with fellow participants.
Miles for Migraine strongly believes that self-care must be part of every treatment plan and that means including a bit of fun!
Our Social Events Series is intended to do just that!
Join us for Design a Tattoo. We will:
- explore the healing benefits of getting a tattoo.
- get inspired by the tattoos of others with headache disorders.
- hear tips for designing a great tattoo from a professional tattoo artist.
- ask our guests questions and chat with each other while we draw designs (which can be used for a tattoo or just drawn for fun)
- share our designs and their meaning with each other
Suggested materials: drawing paper and markers/pencils/pens to draw design
Everyone is welcome whether you are a tattoo enthusiast or just tattoo curious.
Heidi Brehm
Heidi Brehm developed episodic migraine while in high school. Her disease has since become chronic, with constant disabling symptoms which forced her to leave her job as a teacher and go on disability. When not striving to manage her disease, Heidi enjoys hiking and volunteering. Though her life has been severely impacted by migraine, participating in Miles for Migraine programs has helped her connect with peers and find new purpose, hope, and joy.
Christy Connelly
Christy is the mom to four children, two who have been diagnosed with migraine. Christy was diagnosed with migraine at the age of 8. She became chronic intractable in her late 30’s when she also found out she had Chiari and occipital neuralgia. She has navigated and learned various techniques to live with these diseases. She contacted Eileen Jones in 2014 about bringing the race to the Chicagoland area. She has continued working with Miles for Migraine ever since. Last year she added Headache on the Hill to her advocacy work and hopes to continue that work also. Christy hopes to see real changes in migraine funding, research and an end to stigma in the near future.
Chris Nami
Chris Nami has been shaping skin with ink for over two decades. His mastery of styles shines through, from the stark beauty of black and gray, realism, portraits, to the explosive vibrancy of color work and the bold lines of neo-traditional. He describes himself as a “jack of all trades.” With his dedication to tattooing he has earned a spot in tattoo magazines and multiple awards. But life isn't just about the needle – he has a broader artistic vision that encompasses painting, illustration, sculpture, and even custom furniture design. As a former tattoo shop owner, he understands the business as well as the creative pulse of the tattoo world. Outside the studio, his passions ignite with motorcycle road racing, with multiple championships and a 25-year long adrenaline rush. Balancing his life are the grounding forces of a loving wife, two rad kids, and two loyal canine companions.
Anna Williams
Anna Williams developed migraine disease as a child. She had her first cluster headache attack in 2013. In 2017, she developed trigeminal neuralgia (Classical trigeminal neuralgia with concomitant continuous pain). Later in 2017, the medication that helped her manage her cluster headache disease stopped working, and it was after over a year of daily attacks that she was diagnosed with the chronic form. She struggled with finding treatments that she could tolerate and were effective while being a single parent to her two girls, who also have migraine disease. Anna is a board member of Clusterbusters and also volunteers with The Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy, The Headache Alliance, and CHAMP (Coalition for Headache and Migraine Patients).
