Navigating high school and college as a student with migraine can be overwhelming, confusing, and isolating. Educational Lawyer John Goldsborough and Social Worker Haley Mankin are offering this session to provide support, information, and the lessons they’ve learned through their personal experiences. Learn the ins and outs of academic accommodations, assistive technology, Individual Education Plans and 504 Plans, working with school administrators, college student disability services, and more!
School Accomodations, Information
John W. Goldsborough, Esquire, has a college-age daughter who has had chronic migraine since middle school, and migraine runs in his and his wife’s family. He is grateful to Miles for Migraine for its excellent and generous education, advocacy, community, and support, which has had a tremendously positive effect on his family. He tries to give back as much as he can. An attorney for the last 25 years, John began his career as a certified public high-school English teacher and then, after law school and clerkships, served as a prosecutor in the Federal Litigation Unit of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, handling hundreds of federal habeas cases, for over 19 years. From a family of public educators and with extended family in the Deaf community, he has a passion for education and disability advocacy. Last year, he joined the firm of McAndrews Law Offices (McAndrews, Mehalick, Connolly, Hulse and Ryan, P.C.) in Berwyn, PA, the leading regional education law firm in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the Washington, D.C. area, that represents students with disabilities and their parents to achieve appropriate special education and school accommodation.
