Menstrual Migraine: Understanding the Cycle & Improving Quality of Life will be hosted by Katie MacDonald with panelists Dr. Jelena Pavlovic and Dr. Jessica Ailani. According to recently published research, menstrual migraine symptoms are more severe and bothersome than symptoms for other types of migraine.
Participants will learn:

Speakers
Dr. Jelena Pavlovic
Dr. Jelena Pavlovic is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Chief of Neurology at the Einstein Hospital of the Montefiore Medical Center. She also directs research and clinical trials at the Montefiore Headache Center. In addition to being a practicing Neurologist, she holds a PhD in Molecular Biology.
Her research interests broadly focus on hormonal regulation of migraine in women and specifically she aims to answer the question how hormonal fluctuations affect migraine symptoms during the menstrual cycle and across the transition to menopause.
Dr. Pavlovic has published extensively on migraine in women. In recognition of her outstanding achievements, she has been awarded the Harold Wolff-John Graham Award in Headache/Facial Pain Research by the American Academy of Neurology and is the recipient of the Women’s Health Science Award from the American Headache Society.
A physician scientist and an educator, she is also an advocate for Women's issues in Headache through her involvement with several societies and foundations.
Dr. Jessica Ailani
Dr. Jessica Ailani is the Director of the Medstar Georgetown Headache Center, and Professor of Clinical Neurology at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Ailani completed her Neurology training at NYU in New York, NY and a headache fellowship at the Jefferson Headache Center in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Ailani’s research interests include migraine treatment and women’s health and migraine including pregnancy and menses. She is a principal investigator in several clinical trials focused on migraine treatment and enjoys being involved in protocol creation and data evaluation.
Dr. Ailani is an active member of several associations. She is on the executive board of the American Headache Society and for the American Academy of Neurology, she is vice-chair of the division chiefs committee.
Dr. Ailani lectures nationally and internationally on topics related to headache medicine, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients with headache disorders.
Katie MacDonald
Katie MacDonald is the Director of Operations at Miles for Migraine. She is a person who has lived most of her life alongside migraine and currently lives with chronic daily migraine. Katie is passionate about advocacy and breaking down the stigma that so many of us with migraine experience.
