Lindsay Videnieks
Lindsay Videnieks brings more than two decades of public policy, advocacy, and campaign experience to her role as a Founding Principal at Mortar Strategies, where she provides strategic counsel to clients navigating complex legislative and  regulatory landscapes. She is the immediate past Executive Director of the Headache and Migraine Policy Forum.
She has advised Fortune 500 companies, stakeholder coalitions, and non-profit institutions, helping clients successfully manage highly fluid situations that require quick thinking, serious strategy, and precise execution. Lindsay has helped secure multiple legislative wins on issues ranging from technology and manufacturing to healthcare, education, and appropriations.
Lindsay is passionate about problem-solving, exceptional client service as well as mentoring and growing talent.
A first-generation college graduate, Lindsay received high honors from the University of Maine at Orono, where she later established the First Gen Honors Fund to support low-income students. She holds a law degree from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law and is admitted to practice in Maryland, where she lives with her husband and three children.
Carla Allizzo, MSN, RN
Carla Allizzo, MSN, RNÂ is a nursing leader with over 25 years of experience in headache medicine. She began her career working directly on the headache unit, gaining firsthand clinical insight into the complexities of treating patients with refractory headache disorders. She later earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on healthcare administration.Carla currently serves as a Nursing Supervisor at the Jefferson Headache Center, where she maintains a dual role in leadership and direct patient support. In addition to overseeing clinical operations, she remains deeply involved in the day-to-day work of medication prior authorizations and insurance precertification, giving her a practical, real-world understanding of the barriers patients and providers face in accessing care.Her work bridges clinical care, advocacy, and administrative strategy, and she is passionate about helping both patients and clinicians navigate the increasingly complex medication authorization landscape.
Shirley Kessel
Shirley Kessel is the Executive Director of Miles for Migraine and the mom of three daughters, two of whom live with migraine. When her youngest daughter Sydney became diagnosed at an early age, they both decided that it was time to take action to bring awareness and raise money for migraine research. They contacted Eileen Jones, who founded the Miles for Migraine race in San Francisco, and brought the race to the Philadelphia community in 2013. She became the Executive Director in 2017 when it became apparent that Miles for Migraine should take the race series around the USA.
Shirley has worked in healthcare since 1983 and has served on various non-profit boards since 1991. She won’t retire until a cure is found for this disabling disease.
