Victor Wang, MD

Dr Wang is a Headache specialist and board-certified neurologist at Sutter East Bay Medical Group in Berkeley, CA. He completed his residency and fellowship training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital / Jefferson Headache Center. He served as a Chief Resident at Jefferson and received his medical and undergraduate degrees (honors with distinction, BS in Human Science with a minor in Cognitive Science) from Georgetown University. He is a current member of the American Headache Society, American Academy of Neurology, and International Headache Society. He serves on the Medical Advisory Board for Miles for Migraine and actively participates in Headache on the Hill. He has presented research at numerous national and international conferences on headache disorders.

Victor Wang's Philosophy of Care

Dr. Wangs training through Georgetown University taught him the importance of Cura Personalis, caring for the person as a whole. His passion for Neurology, and specifically Headache medicine, arose from his desire to understand and treat suffering. We suffer because of the limitations that life has dealt us, whether they are physical, emotional/mental, genetic, or environmental. Victor wants to help his patients, their families, other providers, and the larger community understand how to help people overcome those limitations and pursue a meaningful quality of life. This has led to his dedication to the pursuit of clinical excellence. As a physician scientist, Victor has researched headache epidemiology, big data, treatment profiles for new medications, and understanding rare headache disorders.

By lobbying for better support for patients with headache disorders through Headache on the Hill and participating as an Act-NOW advocate in Miles for Migraine, Victor hopes to combat the stigma against those with neurologic disorders, especially migraine and other headache disorders. He actively communicates with headache providers around the world and has participated in international research conferences, discussing my special interests in headache disorders and neurologic care for minorities, including the Asian and LGBTQIA2S+ communities.

Victor strives to be a physician educator, teaching medical students, residents, and other trainees in how they can better serve their community. Through his pursuit of clinical excellence, dedication, and advocacy, Victor wants to empower my patients and their families to seize the lives they deserve. Together, we will work towards living with a neurological condition and finding happiness.
