Phil Maynard

Phil Maynard, MD

Dr. Philip Maynard is excited to be on the Miles for Migraine Medical Advisory Board! As a former ACT Now Fellow, he appreciated the unique opportunity to learn and work with patient advocates and looks forward to helping support and expand the programs.

Dr. Maynard grew up in New York City, where he currently lives and practices. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his M.D. from New York Medical College. He completed both his neurology training and Headache Medicine Fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

During medical school, Dr. Maynard realized how fascinating and broad-reaching Neurology is, while learning that the conditions can be intimidating to doctors and patients alike, and can often carry stigma. When he finally discovered Headache Medicine, there was no turning back.

Dr. Maynard currently works at The Montefiore Headache Center. He enjoys getting to know his patients and making an impact on their day-to-day lives. His professional interests include neurotoxins, secondary headaches, vestibular & hemiplegic migraine, and trigeminal autonomic cephalgias. At the office, he can be found sending articles to the Headache Fellows, coordinating care with doctors from other specialties, and begging his patients to take their blood pressure control and sleep apnea testing seriously.

Outside of work, he likes to run, lift, and survive insane hot yoga or pilates classes with electrolytes and a favorite triptan/gepant nearby. (It turns out the “sinus infections” and “rebound headaches” from high school are actually migraine, and that the family history runs deep.)
